Frequently asked insurance questions
How much do family mental health services cost?
As with our other services, we will work with your insurance provider. A benefits check will be run by our billing team, who will provide a breakdown of your coverage. If you have concerns about co-pays, our team will work with you to determine the best payment plan or help set up a sliding scale fee reduction to help you access the care you need!
My child has a different policy than other members of the family. Can I still access family mental health services?
Yes! During your intake, you may have provided your Care Navigator with additional insurance information for other members of your household. If not, we will collect that information for you when you are ready to give you a breakdown of your coverage. We can offer private pay and sliding scale options that best fit your needs.
I don’t have mental health coverage, or, it’s not something I can budget right now. Can I still get help?
Cost should never be a barrier to getting the care you need. Our billing team will work with you to find a plan that works for your budget. Additionally, you can participate in any of our support groups at no cost!
Why am I being billed for different services at Ascend?
During your time at Ascend, you may be seen by different medical providers for different services, including ABA, psychological testing or mental health. Each of these services are billed separately. Our billing team and your care navigator can help answer any questions you may have about the cost breakdown of our different services.

Meet our Family Mental Health Team
Jordan Friedman, MSW, LCSW
Family Mental Health Clinician
My name is Jordan Friedman, and I am an LCSW with 30 years of experience in the field of family therapy. During this time I’ve worked in Chicago and Seattle as a nonprofit leader, therapist and hospital social worker serving children with a wide range of developmental and medical conditions. Most recently I’ve worked in an integrative care clinic in Phoenix as a counselor to people diagnosed with physical and mental health illnesses. I’m passionate about helping families learn to cope with and adapt to unexpected challenges in their lives. I am looking forward to serving and strengthening our Ascend community. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring Arizona, taking walks with my wife (and dog Ollie), and keeping in touch with our two sons who live in Chicago and Austin, Texas.
